The intriguing Nazca Lines in Peru

South of Lima you will find the amazing Dessert Coast of Peru, existing out of some great mystical sights. The mysterious Nazca Lines are probably the most known site, existing out of a series of giant ancient symbols that can only be seen from an airplane. Besides that, there’s also the natural wonder of the floating Galapagos islands, called the Bellesta Islands, and of course the Huacachina oasis with its many sand dunes for sandboarding.

The area around Cusco and the amazing ruins of Machu Picchu is considered by many as the belly-button of the world, with the center exactly located in mystical Machu Picchu.

These ruins have attracted a lot of tourism in the last few decades, but then again, you simply can’t argue whether to visit this sight or not. This is a must for anyone backpacking in South America!

For economical shopping you don’t need to look far, as the cheap centric touristic areas of Miraflores, Barranco and Larcomar or just a stone throw away from our hostel. Or just relax, enjoying the water park in downtown Lima or one of the many cathedrals with antique building styles from Europe and South America.

Be smart and leave your heavy packs in your hostel in Chachapoyas or Cocachimba. The Gocta Waterfall means getting active on a hike. Take a short bus ride from Chachapoyas to arrive in Cocachimba.

From there a gorgeous 2,5 hour hike follows to be amazed by all the flora, fauna and the of course the highlight at the bottom of this amazing Gocta waterfall.
